Join us at Tuesday Night's Board Meeting TONIGHT!
IMPORTANT NOTE TO MEMBERS Dear Members, Tuesday evening we hope to ratify our contract. This will be an accumulation of hard work and diligent efforts from our negotiations team. Please join us tomorrow night to celebrate the final step in the bargaining process. In addition, there are several important attachments to the Board Agenda that one should be mindful of, such as the additions to the Certificated and Classified Personnel Status Reports. The Board will vote on the SGTA, Teamsters, Management, and Confidential contracts with 2.5% salary increases. (See Attached Documents) SGTA is a pleased to see many SGUSD employees receiving the well deserved salary increases! However, while we celebrate a well deserved salary increase for our Principals, V.P's and A.P.'s, listed under Agenda item 14.c. CONSENT - HUMAN RESOURCES Classified and Certificated Personnel Status Reports are additional 2.5% salary increases for the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Business Services (Classified PSR) and 2.5% increases for the Deputy Superintendent for Educational Services and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources (Certificated PSR.) These increases are also retroactive to July 1, 2018 and are in addition to the salary increases included in the contracts and contract renewals approved in the spring and summer of 2018. Placed as they are in the Agenda, these increases are designed to be approved under the “Consent Agenda” items without any Board discussion. SGTA is concerned about the continued raises for our Superintendent and Asst. Superintendents, while the repeated message we receive from the Superintendent and Board is of the dire fiscal circumstances of the district. We are told to expect some layoffs this year. In addition, the Elementary Instructional Coach position was eliminated as of January 7, 2019 as “a result of budget constraints.” If you have additional questions about this Board meeting, please discuss with your SGTA site representatives.
