The negotiations team has met with district a total four times. We have discussed and agreed upon the following: language for evaluations, hours of work, job sharing, leaves of absence, and the 2020-21 calendar. We are currently in talks about association rights. We will be talking about class size, salary schedule and rules, and retiree medical benefits at our next meeting on Friday, June 1. Please wear your union shirt on this Friday!
We have accomplished quite a bit in our meetings so far. If we can agree upon the last articles, we may be finished and ready for a vote before school is out. If not, we will be back at the table at the beginning of the school year. Thank you, Dena & Negotiations Tea

Greetings. Please find the attached teller's report for the Site Rep Elections and post it at your site. Congratulations to Chanda Strom, Daphne Traeger, & Kat Ross, your new Site Reps for the 2018-19 school year. SGTA Elections Committee SGTA members
It has been determined that although some of you have signed a petition to hold a re vote on collaboration days, the vote in April stands as counted. The CBA clearly states that voting happens in April.: D. Waiver-Modified Instructional Day If it is determined at a site that a waiver of the Collective Bargaining Agreement is necessary in order to implement a modified instructional day plan the following procedure shall be followed: 6 Based on implementation of a modified instructional day, the parties agree that during the month of April of each year, the unit members at a school site shall review the waiver of the negotiated contract provisions as to the continuation of this waiver into the subsequent school year. An 80% vote by the unit members at the school site shall be required to continue the waiver. Another vote will happen in April of 2019. Prior to this date, your Site reps will send out information for you to review so you can be FULLY informed when you cast your vote. As of Fall 2018, Gabrielino will revert to a schedule that does not accommodate faculty and department meetings being held during collaboration time. Text from Sharron’s email below: Going forward, next year’s department and faculty meetings will be scheduled per language in the CBA. Under Article VII Hours of Work, Section E Other Duties, sub points 2, 3, and 7 the following applies: 1. “The Association and the District recognize the many demands upon unit members’ time and the requirements of their positions. Therefore, attendance at regular faculty, departmental and grade level meetings will be limited to 2 per month. Every effort will be made to conclude meetings within 30 minutes.” 2. “A monthly meeting schedule will be provided to faculty at least a week before the first day of each month for all meetings. The schedule will include the date, time, location, purpose, and duration of each meeting.” 7. “The District shall administer this Article in a reasonable manner and not in an arbitrary, capricious, or vindictive manner, such as consistently holding building meetings outside of normal duty hours.” During the 2018-2019 school year we will have two mandatory meetings per month. One for department business, and one for a Faculty meeting. The meetings will alternate between the 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM time slots. Zero period will need to be cancelled on the 7:30 meeting days. Coaches will need to make arrangements for 3 PM meetings. Alternating the meetings enable Administration to meet the guidelines of sub point 7. Meetings cannot be held at lunch. Per the CBA, lunch is duty free. Thanks! -- Terri, Chanda and Daphne Please see the attached flyer for the SGUSD retirement party on Thursday. -- Terri Greetings Gabrielino SGTA!
