Hello San Gabriel Teachers,
TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS:
PASS A BUDGET WITH NO EDUCATION CUTS
Right now, the California Legislature is debating the upcoming state budget. Deep cuts to public education will stand in the way of preparing our schools for the safe return of students. Ask your legislator to support a budget with no cuts, no educator or school employee layoffs, and prioritizes equity by repealing corporate tax credits.
The 2020-21 proposed budget has cuts of more than $10 billion to schools and community colleges that will be devastating at a time when students need more support. There are more than $6.5 billion in proposed cuts to the Local Control Funding Formula that could mean equivalent cuts of:
- $1,230 per student
- a 19% increase in class size
- more than 57,000 educator layoffs
- more than 125,000 classified employee layoffs
ASK YOUR LEGISLATOR TO SUPPORT A BUDGET WITH NO CUTS, NO EDUCATOR OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE LAYOFFS, AND PRIORITIZES EQUITY BY REPEALING CORPORATE TAX CREDITS

Hello San Gabriel Teachers,
You may have heard that Governor Newsom shared that anticipated cuts to the California budget could see automatic relief should the Federal Government pass the HEROES Act.
During his press conference on Thursday, May 14th, he called on Congress to pass this important legislation, which, if passed would eliminate 26% of the proposed cuts to the California budget.
The California Teachers Association is asking fellow Californians to call their members of Congress immediately before the House votes, and urge Congress to provide:
- $1 trillion for state and local governments in the HEROES Act
- at least $175 billion for the Education Stabilization Fund;
- and Support at least $2 billion for the E-Rate program to promote internet equity.
So, as a member of the San Gabriel Teachers Association, please call
1-855-977-1770 immediately! It's time to do your part for public schools.
Thank you,
Dena Dragoo, President
San Gabriel Teachers Associatiion
