SGTA Site Representative

Reminder: Union candidacy declarations due Tuesday, April 23rd.

Voting May 2nd all day in the work room 7:30-3pm.

 The San Gabriel Teachers Association will be holding its election for vacant seats in the offices of Site Representative.  Site Representatives, together with the already elected 4-member Executive Board, create the Representative Council, the policy-making body of the Association, which generally meets monthly.  Site representatives receive a stipend of $50 per meeting attended.

Representatives:

• Conduct constant and ongoing liaison between the Representative Council and the Active members of the faculty/site unit.
  
• Serve as the official channel through which written communications and publications can be easily and quickly transmitted between the Association and the members.
  
• Represent the views and input of the Active membership in votes taken in the Representative Council which conducts frequent and regular polls of such membership for this purpose.
  
• Perform such additional duties as prescribed by the Executive Board.
  

Vacancies: Site Representative(s)  “Each faculty, site or site unit shall be entitled to at least one representative and shall have one representative for each 25 Active members on the staff, or major fraction thereof.”  - SGTA Bylaws

Length of Term: July 1, 2019 until June 30, 2020

Declaration of Candidacy Form: Due to Edith Gonzalez at GHS by Tuesday, April 23rd, 4:00pm (must be received by then). Declarations can be sent via district mail, via email, or dropped off to GHS. Email declarations to

Acknowledgement of Candidates’ Declaration of Candidacy: by Tuesday, April 23rd, 5pm via e-mail

Receipt of e-mail from member  regarding Acknowledgement of Candidates’ Declaration of Candidacy  not received: Tuesday, April 23rd, 11:59pm

Voting:  At school sites April 29th - May 2nd  

Return of Ballots to Elections Committee: by Thursday, May 2nd, 3:30 pm , Edith Gonzalez @ GHS

Counting of Ballots by Elections Committee: Thursday, May 2nd, 3:45 pm, DEC
Announcement of Results: Friday, May 3rd   
Run-off Election (if necessary): May 7th         
Deadline to File Challenges: May 17th  (initial w/ no run-off) & May 23rd (run-off) by 5:00pm

Jefferson and Gabrielino can have 3 site representatives
Elementary Sites can have 2 representatives per site.
Del Mar High & the DEC can have 1 representative each.
