SGUSD School Board Meeting - November 19, 2019

Attention San Gabriel Teachers Association Members,

Your SGTA Representative Council and Executive Board wanted to take a moment to remind you that we need to show up in large numbers on TUESDAY, 11/19 to the BOARD MEETING! Some of our board members are trying to fast-track the Supt. search and hire a pricey, private search firm to start the process ASAP.
Collectively, SGTA would like to have the search start towards the end of the year so we can allow acting Superintendent Jim Symonds to find his feet and let us (as a district) enjoy our “new beginning” for the school year. Overall we find favor with our current administration and would like to see this year through, let the dust settle a bit.
School Board Agenda Item (13.a) is Discussion for the Superintendant Search and next steps. This agenda item provides an opportunity for the Governing Board to discuss the status of the Superintendent search in open session.
Come out and hear in their candid discussions and opinions about this current issues. We have been told that two board members, who are still currently favorable towards Papallardo, want to see this Superintendant search begin immediately.
We are asking that our school board members discuss this matter in Open Session so that all can be held acccountable for their decisions in procuring leaders that take us into 21st Century, help us define our SGUSD Portarit of a Graduate and explore together the meaning of "The San Gabriel Experience."
So please come to the board meeting on 11/19 to show your support and to ask the school board to not rush this process.
