UPDATES FROM MEETING WITH DISTRICT 1/9 MEETING
CalPeds Data Page: This information was/will be requested by your office manager. Please refer to the codes on the back page. Send all questions to your the principal or Shannon James. This is an accountability that the district needs to complete for CALPEDS. CALPEDS does not communicate with STRS to get this info, so please update your info. Staffing for 2018-2019: No projected layoffs. Yeah! Tentatively we have 6 retirements at Middle School and 3 Elementary Sites. Keep in mind GAB has a high number of students graduating and there may be new staffing configurations, transfers, especially at JMS and GAB. Please be patient! Do not speculate and wait to work with your school principals later in the year regarding staffing for the new school year. Tie Breaking Criteria Form: In the event of layoffs, when teachers are facing layoffs and transfers, and have the same hire date, this form would used to tally the points to show reason for one teacher to stay. This form was not adjusted this year, but, if needed next year,SGTA and the district will work together to add additional tie breaking criteria. In the event of transfers, teachers will always be able to show recent classwork, PD, and justify their case as to why they feel they should stay in their present position. (refer to CBA for information regarding transfer procedures) Retirement Incentive: Anyone still considering retiring, please contact Yolanda Mendoza in H.R. The district is still willing to give the incentive. Retirement Event: SGTA and the district would like to host an event at the end of the year. Stay tuned for more details. Seniority List: Sites will be receiving an updated seniority list in the near future from their SGTA reps. Confidential data will be kept off, just teachers name, date of hire, work location and credential will be listed. ELPAC Testing: Shannon looked further into the question regarding a proctor and, yes, if there are 20 or more students, then the classroom teacher must be provided a proctor. So, in the near future, principals will be working with teachers and H.R. to hire proctors to help with testing. Please take a look at your EL numbers and come up with a tentative testing schedule. Flexible Seating Purchase Orders: While the district had good intentions of asking teachers to request flexible seating for their classrooms, purchase orders in excess of $100K were requested. So at this time, Asst, Supt. Joyce Yeh has asked that we do not move forward with flexible seating until this topic can be revisited at a later time. Job Fair: SGUSD will be having a job fair in the near future especially to find teachers for hard to fill positions like SPED and substitutes. TK/K Enrollment: There will be an event at Jeff to promote enrollment in the TK/K programs in SGUSD.
