Just wanted to keep you all in the loop regarding any over payment to STRS that you may be owed. (I sent out an earlier email as to how to find out this info via your Cal STRS online account) I just got off the phone with Michelle Bilbrey. She has been working with LACOE as they are the ones processing these refunds. LACOE has not provided our district with a timeframe (as they are dealing with ALL teachers in LA County). But, the refund will be done in batches and hopefully soon.
Look at your January pay stub when it comes out as it could start to show up. The reimbursement total will be added to your monthly payment amount. You will be reimbursed in one of two ways:
1. Under EMPLOYEE DEDUCTIONS/STRS you will see a minus sign with the amount you are owed and this amount will be added to your check, or
2. Your STRS RED may be reduced by the amount of money you are owed. For example, if your STRS RED is $700 and you are owed $200, the amount listed will be $500.
Also, remember that STRS is increased for 2017 so your paycheck will be less.
